Overview

To help improve public understanding of modern waste management, I created a series of educational videos showcasing the technology and processes used throughout Levenseat’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

Designed for social media, website content and educational outreach, each video breaks down a different stage of the recycling process using straightforward explanations, motion graphics and on-screen annotations, making complex industrial equipment accessible to a wider audience.

My Role

I was responsible for the complete production of the video series, working closely with operational colleagues to ensure each process was explained accurately while remaining engaging for a non-technical audience.

My responsibilities included:

Planning each educational video
Filming throughout the Materials Recovery Facility
Researching and gathering technical information from site specialists
Writing clear, audience-friendly explanations
Editing the videos in Adobe Premiere Pro
Designing animated titles and motion graphics
Exporting content for digital and social media channels

The Challenge

Waste processing facilities contain highly specialised equipment that can be difficult for the general public to understand.

The objective was to translate complex engineering processes into short, engaging videos that explained not only what each machine does, but why it plays an important role in recovering recyclable materials and supporting the circular economy.

Accuracy was essential, requiring close collaboration with operational teams while ensuring the final videos remained accessible to audiences with no prior knowledge of waste management.

The Outcome

The completed series provides an engaging educational resource that supports Levenseat’s wider sustainability and communications objectives.

By combining professional video production with technical storytelling, the videos help audiences better understand what happens to waste after it leaves their bins and the technology involved in recovering recyclable materials.
