Learn with Levenseat
Project Type: Educational Website & Digital Learning Platform
Organisation: Levenseat Resource Management
Role: Content Creator & Web Designer (Collaborative Project)
Software: WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects
Overview
Learn with Levenseat is an interactive educational platform developed to support schools across Scotland in teaching sustainability, recycling and responsible waste management. Created in partnership with local authorities and aligned with Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, the platform provides teachers and pupils with engaging digital resources that make complex environmental topics accessible to young learners.
The project combined websites, interactive activities, downloadable classroom resources, videos and animations to create a flexible learning experience suitable for both classroom and remote learning.
My Role
Working alongside Levenseat’s Community Engagement Officer, Student Content Creator and Communications Manager, I played a key role in designing and developing the digital learning platform.
My responsibilities focused on the website itself, planning the overall user experience and creating many of the digital assets that formed the foundation of the resource.
This included:
- Designing and building the WordPress website
- Planning the UX/UI and overall user journey
- Creating hero graphics, icons and interface elements
- Designing interactive educational games
- Producing downloadable classroom resources
- Building online forms and interactive functionality
- Planning educational videos and animations
- Creating visual assets explaining waste and recycling processes
Working collaboratively ensured the educational content remained accurate and curriculum-focused while allowing me to contribute the technical and creative expertise required to bring the platform to life.
My Approach
One of the biggest challenges was presenting highly technical waste management processes in a way that primary school pupils could easily understand.
Working closely with colleagues, we transformed complex industrial processes, including Energy from Waste, food waste processing, wash plants and street sweepings, into engaging educational experiences using age-appropriate language, illustrations, animation and multimedia content.
The website was designed to be colourful, intuitive and accessible, encouraging exploration through interactive activities while supporting teachers with structured lesson plans, downloadable worksheets and classroom resources.
Rather than creating a static information website, the goal was to build a flexible educational platform that could continue evolving as new learning modules and local authority partnerships were introduced.
